Who are the bead makers?
The bead makers are Haitian men and women living in in the Montrouis Haiti. Most have been making beads with our ministry for over a year. Bead making is the primary source of income for most of them. Originally started to help them earn money for their rent, things have grown! Now, most of them earn enough for rent and have additional money each month to help pay for food, doctor's visits and send their children to school.

How are beads made?
The beads are made from recycled paper, glue and finished with clear varnish. Some paper is provided and everyone buys their glue and varnish at a subsidized rate. Bead makers are now supplementing the provided paper with their own recycled paper and thin cardboard. Beads are made by cutting long, thin triangles from the paper, rolling it over a toothpick and finishing with three layers of varnish to seal it.
