Hello and welcome to Pinkstarcharms! ?♥
My name is Lilly, and here I sell handmade charms made out of polymer clay from Australia ✨
I first started working with polymer clay when I was 11 years old, after having discovered it in a craft store. Ever since then, I have been making little creations on and off, but it wasn't until 2019 that I really got into polymer clay. I still have some of my earliest charms - the first charm I made was of Kirby ?
I remember finding it so difficult to make charms that weren't wonky and messy, but after years of practice I'm finally at a stage where I'm happy with my progress! ?
Because of this, I decided to start an Instagram account to share my creations, and soon opened an online shop! I started my Storenvy shop in early 2021, and have found it to be the best platform to sell on.
Other than making polymer clay charms, I enjoy drawing and painting - its been a while since I last drew/painted something because I've been so focused on polymer clay! I hope I can start drawing again in the near future ?
My making process involves getting inspiration from online or my own head, sketching out ideas, sculpting the charms, and painting on the final details. In particular, I love painting tiny eye details on my charms. It's a long process (some of my more complex charms will take 2 days to make!) but I definitely enjoy it. I make most of my charms with soft pastel colors, glitter and full of small details! Choosing and mixing the colors in the most fun part ?
All of my charms are glazed with UV resin to give them extra strength, shine and protection. Glazing is by far the scariest part of making for me - an air bubble/drip can ruin a whole charm! ? Through making mistakes, I learned the best way to glaze charms is to do it in stages (for example, I will first glaze the head of a charm, cure it, and then glaze the body).
UV resin also makes my charms durable enough to hang on bags, pencil cases, phones and more. ? However, I strongly advise against hanging charms in places where they will knock against other items (such as keys). This is because the majority of my charms include very small details and/or small parts that may break off if handled roughly. I would recommend turning the charms into jewelry - like earrings, necklaces, bracelets etc. ?
Thank you for viewing my shop - I hope you find something you like! ?
