An Adventurous Artist

New Berlin, WI 27 Sales

Hi friends! Welcome to a space of fantastical forest glades, fairy creatures, and wisps who are obsessed with cherry pies. I've been sharing my little creations on Instagram @adventurous.artist since 2015, back when I thought the height of artistic achievement was to create a colored pencil drawing that looked exactly like a photograph, and wondered how on earth people developed their own unique styles.

Seven years later, after sampling lots of various art techniques and mediums and finding photorealism commission work tediously boring, I realized I just wanted to be a tiny fairy living in a mushroom in a pretty forest glade with lots of fluffy green moss. Since I haven't found a way to do that just yet, I decided I might as well paint it! A bunch of you joined along on insta to see all the whimsical creations, and after lots of questions about how you could get your hands on them, I've opened a store for everyone!

Anyone from insta will recognize the work here, and for anyone new, I hope you enjoy it as well :) I've got various fairy designs (done with acrylic paint, pen, and pencil on paper) forest glade paintings (done in acrylic paint on wood, and usually featuring a spirit deer and a few cherry-pie loving wisp friends), some witchy cottages (in acrylics on paper and oils on canvas), and various other fantasy/nature inspired original works and prints.

I've got big plans for more products to offer everyone as well (stickers, wisp plushies, puzzles, temporary tattoos of the fairy friends...) but check out what I have in the store for now! I hope my creations bring some magic into your life.

Store FAQ

  • Do you accept orders placed outside of the US?

I sure do! I know I have a lot of international friends following me on insta and I have braved the mess of figuring out international shipping to send my little fairies and spirit deer to all of you :)
  • How long will it take to receive my order?

I usually try to ship orders within a week of receiving them. Once shipped, most US orders take from 2 to 10 business days to arrive. International delivery times may vary between 2 and 12 weeks.
  • Do you make custom pieces/commissions?

I do! Commissions open periodically when I have time to get them done. Check out the "commissions" page in my store to see if there are any available. If they are labeled as "sold out" that means all spots are filled. If the label says "coming soon" that means commissions are currently closed. Go visit my instagram @adventurous.artist for more information on them and to see when they open next!
  • Can I get your work tattooed?

Absolutely! I am beyond honored that anyone would want my art permanently on their body for the rest of their lives. That makes me so happy. Please be sure to credit me if you post about it though!
  • Where do you get the wood for the forest glade paintings?

I source a lot of my wood locally from Kettle Moraine Hardwoods :) They have gorgeous cuts of wood that all have such unique character and creative potential. I also pick up a few pieces from someone I know who cuts and dries it for me, and occasionally I'll get smaller pieces at Michael's Arts and Crafts store.
  • What materials do you use?

Most of my original pieces are done in acrylic paint. A few involve the use of pencil and pen as well. I also do some oil paintings from time to time.
  • How long does a piece take to make?

The forest glade paintings really vary on the size and complexity of the piece. I think the shortest was around 3 hours and the longest was about 8 hours. I usually finish the small fairy illustrations in one session, probably around 4 hours.
  • How do you get your prints?

I currently order prints from a company based in Florida called The Stackhouse. I want to save up for my own printer though so I have more control over the process.
