Plastic Flame Press

Durham, NC 358 Sales

Christopher Williams is a self-trained silkscreen artist. After getting his start asking questions of local printmakers and spending countless hours on gigposters.com, he has grown Plastic Flame Press over the last 15+ years to doing work for touring bands and universities.
His most consistent work has been for Carrboro, NC's Cat's Cradle, having done several hundred posters for the club since 2005. In addition to numerous gallery shows showcasing his gigposter work, he has served as one of the primary artists for Raleigh's Hopscotch Music Festival and, in 2010, was invited to become a part of the Southern Folklife Collection at UNC-Chapel Hill, which now holds over 400 of his posters, prints and flyers. In 2019, to celebrate the 10th year of the Hopscotch Music Festival, he curated a show of festival-related prints at Raleigh's Contemporary Art Museum.
In 2019, he began publishing his own graphic novels and zines. Since that time, he has released a handful of graphic novels, receiving a grant from the Durham Arts Council in 2020 to release another in 2021.
Christopher currently lives in Durham with his son, Seamus.
