VIRGIN REMY HAIR 101: What does hair origin mean?

Hair origin is where the hair originally from.(Ex. India, Brazil, Peru, Russia, etc.)

VIRGIN REMY HAIR 101: What does hair texture mean?

Hair texture is the pattern of hair. (Ex. Body Wave, Straight, Curly Wave, Deep Wave, etc.)

VIRGIN REMY HAIR 101: What is the difference between Remy, Remi, Virgin, and Virgin Remy hair?

• Virgin hair is hair that has not been chemically processed in any way. Hair fallen from a comb that was just picked up off the floor can be considered virgin hair. Some companies use “Virgin” as a way to sell their products, but Virgin hair can be considered pretty much anything that hasn’t been chemically altered.
• Remi is just a brand of low quality hair. This is not the same as Remy hair.
• Remy hair is hair that has been processed chemically in some way (dyes, permed, etc.), but the cuticles of the hair are still facing the same direction.
• Virgin Remy is hair that has not been chemically processed in any way and the cuticles are intact and facing the same direction.

VIRGIN REMY HAIR 101: What kind of hair care products should I use on my hair?

Virgin Remy hair is delicate. You must care for it as you would your own hair. Avoid using products with harsh chemicals and products that have excessive oils as this may weigh down the hair and cause excessive tangling and shedding. All hair care products on the PBH website are safe for your extensions.

VIRGIN REMY HAIR 101: What does ombre` mean?

Ombre` is a method of coloring hair into more than one color without having an obvious line of demarcation of where the next color begins and the previous color ends. This is currently one of the hottest trends in the hair industry.

VIRGIN REMY HAIR 101: What are fillers?

Fillers are synthetic fibers or animal hairs that are mixed in with hair extensions to create a fuller bundle. The hair looks full and beautiful, but after wearing the hair for just a short amount of time, it begins to tangle and shed. This practice is done by hair companies who are more interested in profiting than quality.

VIRGIN REMY HAIR 101: Does PBH recommend bleaching?

Bleaching the hair is a chemical process. Bleaching can destroy the cuticle of the hair. If you would like your hair to last longer, beaching is not recommended. Virgin hair is the best hair, but even Virgin hair has its limits.

VIRGIN REMY HAIR 101: What is the difference between bleaching and dying hair?

Bleaching hair removes the pigment from the hair. Dying hair adds pigment to the hair. In simple terms, bleaching hair removes color (lighter than original color; Ex. brown to blonde) and dying hair adds color to hair (darker than original color; Ex. blonde to black). Both are damaging to hair extensions.

VIRGIN REMY HAIR 101: How do I know my hair is Virgin Remy hair?

Telling whether or not your hair can be difficult because so many companies promise to offer such good hair and the hair always looks beautiful with the initial installation. Some of the ways that you can tell whether or not your hair is Virgin is:

• If the hair gets lighter towards the ends. The roots of natural hair tend to be darker than the ends of the hair.
• If there are a few gray strands in your bundle. This is almost a certain sign that the hair you have is Virgin Remy. The donor of the hair may have had a few gray hairs when they were selling or donating their hair. Gray hair ensures that no coloring process has taken place.
• If the bundle(s) vary in color or pattern. With hair sold at beauty stores, the hair is dyed to be all the same color and pattern. Virgin Remy hair should never be the same color or pattern throughout the bundles.
• If your hair is able to be changed into any color (dark or light). A test that you can take to determine whether or not your hair is Virgin Remy (with a small piece of your bundle or with extra hair) is to bleach the hair. If the hair is able to reach the color #613 (bleach blonde), then it is highly possible that it is Virgin Remy hair. #613 is the hardest color to reach when bleaching hair. (Also, the hair should begin changing pigment pretty quickly after applying the bleach, depending on the developer used.)*
• The number one way to know if your hair is Virgin Remy or not is the cost. If the price sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. Good hair is never cheap and cheap hair is never good.

*Bleaching your hair is not recommended by Pretty Bounce Hair Company. Bleaching hair can destroy the cuticle of the hair. This is only a suggestion and is in no way persuading clients to bleach their hair extensions to that extent.

VIRGIN REMY HAIR 101: What is the difference between the different hair origins on the market?

Indian:
Is naturally full and bouncy. The texture is silky soft. It can be easily curled, waved / styled and is less coarse than Chinese Virgin Remy hair. This hair does not lose its luster and can easily match any hair texture.

Brazilian:
Has a lot of natural body to it. It comes in natural colors of dark brown or black and sometimes a bit lighter. Excellent for people with African ancestry.

Malaysian:
Moves and flows freely and holds curls well. It is heavier, thicker, and denser than the Asian and Indian Virgin Remy hair. It is not as shiny as Indian Virgin Remy hair, yet feels very soft and smooth It has a lot of body and can also be used to achieve a more natural look for African American relaxed hair versus Yaki hair.

Peruvian:
Is very soft; it has a light, fine and silky texture that is suited for those seeking a European or Latin hair texture. This hair blends very well with African American relaxed hair.

Cambodian/Mongolian Hair:
Is not too widely known but it is gorgeous and a favorite of many that do know it.

Chinese / Filipino / Vietnamese:
Naturally shiny, and does not hold curls, and is slightly coarser but does not tangle like regular Chinese hair sold in beauty supply stores.

Russian / European:
Is a fine to medium density fiber that has more limited availability than Indian or Chinese hair and is therefore more expensive. Most common colors are dark blondes or medium browns.

Burmese:
Is cross between Chinese and Indian hair. It is healthy, resilient, and full bodied. It is well suited for people of African descent.

Eurasian:
This hair comes from an donor mixed with Asian and European descent

WEFT CONSTRUCTION: What is a weft?

A weft is the track that the hair is sewed onto. Simply put, the weft is the track.

WEFT CONSTRUCTION: What are beards in terms of weave?

Beards are known as the short pieces of hair that are found right below the weft of the hair, usually located on the front of the hair weft. Beards are created when hair is sewed on the track and the remaining hair is folded over. Beards can be short & bulky (very obvious), long & thin, (or subtle). This solely depends on the hair weaving method of the hair manufacturer. Below is an image of hair beards on a hair weft. The beards are short and evenly cut throughout the entire weft.

WEFT CONSTRUCTION: Why are wefts constructed with beards?

Wefts are constructed with beards as a security measure for the hair. Basically, when the hair is sewed on the weft, it is folded over to ensure that the hair is securely on the weft and will not shed. This type of weft construction also helps eliminate the chance of the hair becoming loose on the weft, which causes shedding.

WEFT CONSTRUCTION: Does the weft construction affect the end result of my hair style?

No. The weft construction does not affect how your hair comes out at all

WEFT CONSTRUCTION: What does it mean to seal wefts and why is it important?

Sealing wefts is basically adding extra layer of protection to the weft into order to eliminate the chances of shedding. This is important because it keeps the weft looking full throughout the entire installation. Wefts should be sealed before every install.
