"Toys Are Us: A Revolution In Plastic." Director's Cut This extended director's cut of the first documentary about the designer vinyl toy world features never-before-seen footage, extended scenes, more interviews, and more toys! The DVD also includes two brand-new mini documentaries! The first, "Toy Making 101," takes an in-depth look at what goes in to designing, sculpting, and producing vinyl toys. Besides hearing from many of the toy designers, sculptor Brin Berliner makes an appearance and shows the world some tricks of the trade. The second mini doc is called "An Ancient Vinyl History." It delves into the world of vintage Japanese vinyl character toys, exploring their roots and examining the influence they still hold over vinyl toys today. "Toys Are Us: A Revolution In Plastic" is the first ever documentary on the creative, sophisticated, and often challenging world of designer vinyl toys, where artists create their own weird and wonderful figures for a booming, adult collector's market. The film is a high-energy, fast-paced celebration of new forms of artistic expression, DIY culture, and of course, toys! Produced by X-Ray Films, "Toys Are Us" was filmed on location at the creators' and collectors' studios and homes, various toy stores on both sides of the country, and Comic Con International 2006. Exploring the scene through the eyes of the designers and fans themselves, the documentary features interviews with such luminary artists as Frank Kozik, Patrick Ma (Rocketworld, IWG), Tara McPherson, KaNo (Moneygrip), Erick Scarecrow (ESC Toy, Liberty), Mark Nagata (Max Toy Co., Captain Maxx), Nathan J, Brian Flynn (Super 7), Mars-1, Jermaine Rogers, J Neth, Voltaire, and more, as well as collectors and fans. "Toys Are Us" also features a ridiculously loud soundtrack by such punk and under-ground bands as Mindless Self Indulgence, Longway, Brian McCarty, Stick Shift, and I, Synthesist. It was an official selection of New York City's 2007 E.Vil City Film Festival. NTSC. Playable in All Regions. Suggested Retail $20 Now $11!!!

FAQs & Polices

Why Discordia?

It sounds pretty, and very in-crowd. Which really sums up the items we carry since most of it is cute and you have to be in-the-know when viewing our selection of unique artist produced and manufactured art toys.

And we wanted a name that could cover a wide range of goods where nothing would seem out of place and we could achieve maximum variety of art, books, toys, stickers and more.

Why is your Logo and Apple with a letter 'K' on it?

It is the 'Apple of Discord'. The 'K' is for 'Kalliste' meaning 'For the Most Beautiful'. According to myth, it was used to create confusion and strife.

Discordia Culture Shop is an 'Apple Of Discord' in a crass corporate world by helping Creatives reach the public and denting the corporate bottom line as much as possible.

The only rebellion left in a strip-mall world is starting your own business and supporting independent businesses whenever possible.

Do you accept orders placed outside of the US?

YES! We ship everywhere on Earth!

How long will it take to receive my order?

Once shipped most domestic orders take anywhere from 2 to 10 business days to arrive depending on the efficiency of your local postal service. International shipping delivery times may vary between 1 and 2 weeks.

Pre-Orders may take an additional 1-2 weeks. And any special Made-To-Order / Based-On-Orders items may take and much as 3 months for Artists to manufacture prior to being shipped out by us.

Basically, the longer it takes for an item to arrive factors into its value and rarity. Good things to those who wait.
