NÜDE is an experimental band from Chicago. Luke Clohisy and Ruby Dunphy, the masterminds behind this project, have packaged together four beautiful pieces into “Blue,” their debut release. These four songs feel like long-lost tracks from the 90’s: “Exquisite” sounds like a melancholic blend of ear-bleeding country and shoegaze, whereas the harsh, pulsating rhythm and anguished vocals and lyrics of “Gospel of the Midwest” are reminiscent of industrial and first-wave grunge. The tape also includes a cover of Daniel Johnston’s “Going Down” that manages to intensify the original track without sacrificing the tone of the original version. If you dig the variety of sounds brought into the world by 90’s alternative, “Blue” is the perfect tape for you.
The physical copy of “Blue” by NÜDE comes with a hand-stamped, blue cassette with a four-panel j-card printed on photo paper.
