Celebrating a local delicacy near and dear to my heart... Philadelphia Tomato Pie! Cold, square, sometimes with a sprinkle of cheese, sometimes barebones with nothing more than a smear of red sauce on a slab of dough, stacked up on a corner store counter wrapped in wax paper.
Also including other local, related curiosities: Pizzaz, Upside-down pizza, and Trenton upside-down MUSTARD pie??. All neighborhood / stylistic definitions are based on my personal favorites and a dose of artistic license. Thanks for looking!
Each print is a 12" x 18" gallery quality giclee in glorious full color, printed by Katie Tackman in Philadelphia. Also available as a set of all 3.
This project is several months in the making, and really several years (decades??) of traveling, eating, writing about and researching the unique culinary tradition of cold, square Italian bakery pizza (and its adjacent forms) that reaches from Palermo to South Philly. Ships in 1-2 weeks!
