Who are we?

Family owned since 2009 our business started with the idea of making handmade Christmas gifts for our family the previous year. Bart & I didn't have enough money to purchase raw materials so we started sourcing unused scrap hardwoods from manufacturers from our area who uses wood for materials. Our family loved their gifts! That is was the beginning of our business and our story.

Today, we pick up unused scrap hardwoods locally each month and bring it back to our shop to sort out. Our criteria for obtaining scrap woods are (1) must be hardwoods (2) untreated (3) unused. All the colors you see on our products are 100% natural colors. Our goal is to bring manufacturing back to the United States using our own resources to produce products we can use. Repurposing and upcycling made in the US.

How do you care for your cutting board?

No cook can do without a quality cutting board, and many people prefer a particular type or design in their wooden board. Our cutting boards will last for years and years, but some amount of care is necessary. If you follow our suggestions they will help ensure that your cutting board lasts a long time and is always safe from any food-borne bacteria.

Your board was hand rubbed numerous times with a mixture of natural bees wax and mineral oil. Oiling a cutting board is essential because detergents and soaps used for cleaning tend to dry out the wood, causing splits and an overall shorter useful lifespan. If you purchased a Bread board, it can simply be brushed off with a dry towel.

To ensure your cutting board enjoys a long life, re-oil the board depending on the frequency of washing, as soaps remove the oils in the wood. This could be as often as every few weeks to several months. As wood dries out, it gets a 'thirsty' washed-out looking appearance, but as a general rule, a monthly coat of mineral oil will keep it ready for action. Apply the oil liberally, and rub into the wood with a clean cloth. A paper towel will work also. Stand the board on end, or prop up for a few hours, re-oiling until the wood does not absorb any more oil. Wipe off any excess.

To remove stains, generously sprinkling regular table salt over the surface of the board, and rub it with a sliced lemon. Rinse well with hot water. Baking soda also works to remove odors, especially if you've been working with onions, garlic, or other strong scented foods. Be sure to re-oil your board after it has thoroughly dried.

Thank you for your purchase. If you follow these easy instructions you will enjoy your cutting board for years to come.

How long will it take to receive my order?

Ship date is generally within a week from the date of your order. If we need to custom make your product, please add another week. We generally ship via USPS Priority (domestic and international). That way we can track it. If you prefer a different shipping method, please let us know. If we don't hear from you regarding shipping preference, it will be shipped via default ... USPS Priority.

USPS Priority generally takes 2-3 business days from when post office receives the package for US domestic shipping. Sometimes, it may take 4 days depending on your shipping location. Most major US metro cities will take 2-3 business days. For international, it can take anywhere from 7-14 business days. Additional charges will apply for ALL international shipments.

When you place an order, we do our best to advise you if there are any delays to your order. Holiday orders will be automatically delayed.

What is your damage policy?

Shipping damage is very rare but, unfortunately, it sometimes happens. However, if procedures are followed we will be able to resolve issues quickly and satisfactorily. It is of the utmost importance that any damages are reported to us as soon as possible and not later than 10 days from receipt of packages because no damage claims will be accepted by shipping companies after 10 days from date of delivery. If you allow this time to elapse no claims can be made; a return cannot be accepted and we will be unable to provide a replacement or refund. If you intend to store an item for later use you should unpack it and examine for possible hidden damage. Please report any damage by email to [email protected] and we will be ready to help.

If a product has been damaged in transit, we will provide a replacement subject to our ownership (as described below). Most orders will not require a signature upon delivery but if a signature is requested please be sure to fully inspect the contents of your packages before signing for the order, even if the packaging seems in good condition. There may be hidden damages to the contents. Be sure to advise your family members or agent who may accept delivery on your behalf to do the same. If you do not have time to inspect your order upon delivery, or if you suspect possible damage, write "Un-inspected, possible damage" above or near your signature. Also, be aware that, when you sign for a package, you are signing a document transferring ownership to you; that states you have inspected the shipment and that it is in good condition.

Damage claims with Freight Carriers may only be made by the owner. So, if you do sign for a package and later realize it has been damaged in the shipping process, as the owner, you will need to file a claim with the freight company yourself and Mac Cutting Boards will be unable to help. However, we can help file a claim if signed with "Un-inspected, possible damage" as described above.

We can always help with such claims from UPS or Fedex Ground as they operate with different rules.
